Do you think that summer vacation should be shorter, school hours longer for children?
Mon Sep 28, 2009
it's the quality of the teaching, not the hours in class.
Does the health bill proposed by Democratic Sen. Max Baucus, with its option for co-ops instead of a government-run insurance plan, offer a good middle ground?

If you take the SCOTUS as supreme law then you are skewing your facts. Judges are liberals and conservatives (ie they make mistakes and can be wrong). And if they truly followed the Constitution to the letter of the law, 90% or more all Congressional bills would be struck down as unconstitutional.

Where do you see competition? Are you able to buy health insurance outside of your own state? No. You are forbidden by government regulations. Thus the providers in your state have you as a captive audience. You have no choice but to buy from them and they know it..

No, you allow the insurance companies to offer a "caffeteria" style of plan. I pick and choose the coverage I want. And all plans will include catastrophic coverage. You'd be foolish not to get that.

I've read the Constitution, many times... please show me in there where the Federal Government is granted the authority to provide anything like Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Roe V Wade, etc etc etc.. you can't. Because it's not in there.

sea2see, you're completely wrong on a public/govt run option. Almost all large companies pay more than 8% of their payroll costs for healthcare (including hiring HR people to deal with insurance issues).

First off, it's not Constitutional, period. End of story. Second, for those of you claiming the insurance companies are profiting from you...
What do you think of Rep. Joe Wilson's decision to shout out 'You lie!' during the president's speech?
Wed Sep 9, 2009
so it's ok for dems to boo Bush and the like but when a republican does it to Obama it's shameful and bad? where was the same outrage when dems were doing almost the exact same thing to a republican president? Not that George W. Bush was all that great, but at least show less hipocracy.
Should parents be allowed to refuse cancer treatments for their sick children?
Fri May 15, 2009
For those saying they are condeming the boy to pain and misery, have you ever SEEN someone go thru Chemo???? Trust me, it's not day at the park. It's probably far more painful than the cancer itself.
Should Obama have signed a $410 billion spending bill that includes nearly 8,000 pet projects?
Wed Mar 11, 2009
He talks about changing the way things work then signs a bill that does just the opposite. By not signing the bill, the govt would have continued to run the rest of the fiscal year on 2008 numbers..
